Krista Bower- Owner & Director

Krista Bower has served as Owner and Director of the Yazoo City School of Dance since 2006. She enjoys teaching students of all ages to enjoy and appreciate dance. Krista has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Jacksonville University/White Oak and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance from Belhaven University. She is the Chair of the Dance Department at Belhaven University and is a co-founder of Front Porch Dance, a contemporary dance company based in Jackson. In addition to her roles as an educator, choreographer, and performer, Krista served as the Dance School Administrator for the 2014 and 2010 USA International Ballet Competition Dance School and Teacher Training Program in Jackson, MS. Krista was awarded Performing Arts Fellowships from the Mississippi Arts Commission in 2016 and 2011, and she was selected as one of "Mississippi's 50 Leading Business Women" in 2013.

Andie Knudson- Instructor 

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Andie Knudson grew up training in a wide range of dance techniques including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, pointe and modern. She moved to Jackson, MS in 2015 and recently received her BFA in Dance from Belhaven University. During Andie's time at Belhaven, she performed three works at American College Dance Association Regional Conferences, served on the DOXA Leadership Team, and received the Bezalel Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. As she has worked to refine her skills as a choreographer, Andie has had opportunities to showcase her work for various Jackson events, including Belhaven University's Community Dance Concert and a local broadcasted event - Jackson: City with Soul. Outside of Belhaven, Andie has worked with CIC Dance Theatre as both a performer and Public Relation's Manager and was employed by the USA International Ballet Competition as the Dance School Assistant. She spent this past summer at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival as a Video Documentation Intern filming company performances and events of the festival while studying the collaboration between dance and video arts. Andie is excited to be back in Mississippi for the upcoming year and cannot wait to begin moving with her students!
